There are over 9000 free WordPress themes on wordpress.org. But which one is for you?

Over 9000 free WordPress themes

Now, when you want to create a WordPress website you will need to:

  • Figure out the domain name then purchase the domain. You could use BrandRoot for inspiration.
  • Buy a website hosting plan.
  • Choose a free WordPress theme.

This means that you will still have some costs with the domain and web hosting. Now, you should be aware that most of the times free WordPress themes provide no support. If you want to have access to support, you will need to buy a paid plan. But don’t worry, prices can be a bargain (most of the time).

Now how should you pick a lucky theme winner?

How to choose your free WordPress theme

  • Go to wordpress.org/themes and take a look at the listed WordPress themes. You can filter them by date, popularity, or features. WordPress themes filtering

Maybe you want a theme that has a grid layout and is good for photography. Use the filter to uncover such free WordPress themes.

  • Given that these themes are free, you should look for one that has as many options as possible. To make the most out of a free theme version and customize your website accordingly, you should search for an extended range of customizations. For example, I’m looking at the Dhimay theme. In the wordpress.org description there’s a link to its demo.Free WordPress theme demo - DhimayTake a look at the demo or live preview to see if you like the design. But, besides that, check the theme’s description both on wordpress.org and its official website, and analyze the available customizations.
  • Read the theme’s reviews on wordpress.org.
  • Make sure that the theme was updated in the last 6 months, like this one. Mesmerize was updated in May 2022. Free WordPress theme ratings and updates
  • Check whether the theme has available templates. For example, the Colibri theme has 90+ free and paid templates.
  • Check if there are premium plans for the theme, in case you will want to make an upgrade to access extra features. Premium plans also have support included.
  • Make sure that the theme is mobile responsive. You can take a look at the demo from tablet and a mobile device and see if it adapts to various screens.
  • As important as mobile responsiveness, the speed of a website loading is crucial to that website performance. You have to look for a theme that has clean code behind it, so it doesn’t hinder website loading time.
  • You should consider the theme compatibility with other popular plugins, such as those dedicated to integration of a contact form into the website (e.g. Contact Form 7), or of a newsletter (e.g. MailChimp).

Whether you work as a designer, a photographer, or a freelancer, you will definitely need to build an online presence via a website. Your social media accounts are not enough. In order to be credible, you need a website that is able to reflect your skills, know-how, and projects.

You can most easily make a portfolio website starting from good WordPress portfolio themes. We provide you a list of the best 15+ WordPress portfolio themes. You can use any of them confidently, and build a successful site that really represents you.

Guidelines for portfolio websites

Here are some basic principles you need to take into consideration when you start building your WordPress portfolio website:

  • Present yourself, not just your work.

Apart from listing your best work, you need to introduce yourself. Say who you are, what your passions and hobbies are, what you are talented at and what interests you most. Be as authentic as possible, besides presenting your education and professional course.

I love the way Ivan Key presents himself and his work. By the way, this is a WordPress website.

  • Present just your best work.

If there’s plenty to show in terms of work samples and portfolio, consider sorting them out. Do not throw everything in the website, only select the best work and present it as best you can. Including everything might be redundant, or deter users from getting to know what your strengths are.

I like how the individual project galleries look like for on the EthnicChic, an interior design company from Netherlands. The website design is minimalistic, with lots of white space, so that you can focus on the galleries more.

Portfolio website for interior design

  • Keep it concise.

Do not stuff the presentation with unnecessary words. Keep to the essentials, and sum up what you have to say about yourself as a professional. You want people to remember you as a brand, and for this you need a unique presentation. Keep it simple and easy to remember.

  • Tell a story. Your story.

For the data to be relevant and expressive, you need to provide some context. And you can do this by telling your story in the website pages. How you started working in the area, what the early experiences were, how you continued and what encouraged you to follow a career path. People will find it interesting to read about the human side related to a professional evolution. Don’t neglect it.

Here’s how a Karolina Edman, Sydney-based branding specialist approaches this:

Tell a story in a portfolio website

  • State a mission and a vision.

Similarly to business websites, having a mission and vision is important for a portfolio website. Why do you do the work you do, what are your standards, how do you expect to make a difference with your work in your area of expertise, etc. These are questions that the mission and vision statements should answer.

Take a look at Land of White Deer (some of my favorite photographers). They keep it simple, and touching: ” frames of tenderness and affection… glimpses of the bond between two souls… LIFE – raw and captivating”.

Photography vision on portfolio website

  • Last, but not least, publish awards and recommendations.

Awards and recommendations strengthen your presentation, and support your statements through third-party assessments. These serve as social proof, and have force to convince users to contact you for future projects.

Take a look at Dylan and Joanna, photographers and owners of the The Kitcheners. They are showing off their awards on the homepage.

Photographer awards listed on portfolio website

Colibri Charity is a demo developed for non-profit, charity organizations who need a solid presence in the online medium. In this medium, well-designed charity websites could be the means to reach a broader audience and collect funds at a larger level.

More than that, having a charity website is the main condition for online fundraising.

Charity Websites

Get .org domains for charity websites

ORG comes from organization. These extensions are specific to organizations and such domains have higher authority in Google. A .org domain for your website ensures you have a good start with your organization, and tells people what your website is about, right off the bat.

The platform you choose has to be easy to work with

Before you sit down and deploy extensive work for creating a new website for your non-profit organization: be sure you’ve done the right choice, regarding the platform you build the website with.

Colibri is such a platform. All setup is in the Customizer, from components to pre-defined blocks to even a dedicated template: the charity website template.

Here’s what you’ll work with, for your Colibri charity website:

Structure of charity websites

Such a website needs a clear structure, and the message should be direct and touching. No extra words, no promotional material should stay in the way of clearly making the call for people to donate for a good cause.

The charity website template has a few key items in the main menu, and that’s all users need to navigate its pages. Some items are associated to the same page (the homepage). These are sections of presentation that are brought forward in the main menu. Hence, these sections are visible enough and susceptible of being clicked more and gaining trust for the organization website.

The multiple items of the homepage included in the demo menu are: Testimonials section, Projects section and Donate section. That is, the most important ones, beyond an organization overview.

Color scheme with predominant white

The color scheme for the Colibri charity template has white as predominant color. White is used both as accent color (e.g. CTA buttons) and for negative space. In fact, white is a non-color which is meant not to influence through emotions, in any way. Users are free to donate or not, depending on how trustful they judge the website and its content.

Thus, it’s of much more importance to have relevant and trustful content than a lively color scheme, for your non-profit organization. The color combination in the template is neutral, and leaves visitors judge the website by its words.

Hero of charity websites – an impactful image

Whereas the color scheme is neutral, you can add power to words by using images. And the Hero is the first and most important place where an image can really make an impact. This is what the Colibri charity template teaches you: how to use a photo being worth 1,000 words.

Actually, it’s the beginning of your story…

Hero Charity Websites

Replace the default with a more than equally impactful image, and the first impression will be a good one. Thus, you make sure visitors continue to explore the website.

Title and subtitle (put your story into words)

The title and subtitle of the homepage “translate” the Hero image into meaningful words. Keep in mind it’s a new story for those who land on the page and want to donate. So, be concise, be expressive, be convincing, be touching and be authentic.

The title and adjacent phrase supporting it should be at least as eloquent as the one suggested by the Colibri template:

Title, subtitle Charity Websites

Use this example as a source of inspiration, and write your own message.

As components, you only need a Heading and a text element. The graphics and text color are easy to adjust, from the Typography, Text color and Text Shadow options.

It’s time to add a Call-to-Action

This means, for your users: “It’s time to donate now”. And it means you need a CTA button after the title and subtitle of your website. You have everything set up in the Colibri template:

By default, the button has a white background, and on purpose. On hover, the button takes the color of the heading and subheading text. And it signals users they are on the point of taking action. You can change this, or you can leave it as such, if convenient.

A Donate Now button in the website Hero starts a donation funnel right into the homepage. People who already know of your organization or are familiar with its name/activity can proceed directly to donating.

Current and ongoing activities

This section ties the organization with its audience. It tells people what activities you organize, and what events they can take part to. It also encompasses the organization vision: it’s an expressive way of telling users what you do, and how you do it right now.

Also, it’s an invitation of new users to join the community and participate to fundraising.

You’ll find a grid layout for this section, and it includes: a representative image, a title and a short description for each activity:

Obviously, if you need another format for presenting your activities calendar, you can use different components and a different layout, in Colibri. Or you can keep the same format as in the charity website template. In this latter case, you only need to replace the photos and text with your own.

Show past projects and reinforce trust

This is one of the homepage sections with related item in the menu. It’s a section destined to present past projects the organization was involved in. And it’s a section meant to reinforce trust.

Your non-profit organization needs a history. And this history unfolds in a masonry gallery like this:

The gallery includes multiple photos of different dimensions. By default, the images are set to open in a lightbox. You can change this and choose to link to media file or link to attachment page.

Please note that a trustful organization has a history. Even if a minimal one, and your activities are of recent dates. Gather all you can include in this section, and try not to omit it in designing your own charity website.

Future events section in charity websites

As important as the organization history is its events calendar. What will you do in the near future, when and how? This tells a bit more of your direction, and your charity activities plan.

It’s essential for users who donate to know what they donate for. Also, it’s an invite for website visitors to join the community and take part in future charitable events.

As a key section, this couldn’t miss from the Colibri template:

Remember the importance of using impactful images? Colibri shows it all along the website pages and sections, and guides you to take it into account when inserting your own photos.

You can, and are encouraged to give details about the events, such as: where they take place, what hour they are set for, who the team leader is and who will manage the good run of the event.

You can add as many sections as you need, according to your activities calendar. And the Colibri options to customize them don’t limit you in designing these sections as best you want.

For instance, you can add CTA buttons or add some interactivity, to increase commitment to participate.

Icons related to charity activities

Last, but not least, you can customize icons. This amounts to customizing every detail in the website to pixel-perfection.

The tool gives you the right options when you need them, at every stage in the design process. You’ll see you have them at hand, when you need them for your site design. This is the case with icons. You can choose icons that fit a charity organization, like shown in the template:

You have 8+ icons libraries. From them, you can select the most appropriate ones, and include them in your lists. Or you can use the already existing icons in the template.

As a conclusion

If you start building charity websites, you should remember this: Colibri is just the right tool to simplify the process and lets you focus on activities that count most for the organization. In designing the website, you’ll see the appropriate options at hand, ready to support you in quickly and professionally presenting your non-profit organization. Consider the advice in this article and the website-building process will be simple and fast. And so will increase your chances to be visible to a large audience that’s willing to help.

Ok, you’re a coach and you want to have a coaching website and better promote your counselling services. The first pace is to create a website and have an online identity.

But how do you know if your website will be a success?

Simply, by following these tips:

1. Choose an appropriate domain name for your coaching website

This is the very first step in creating your online identity as a coach. You have to select a domain name, one that can be easy remembered and by which people can identify you. One sure way to choose it rightly is to use your name. Check the availability of the domain and register it.

2. Choose an appropriate layout

Then, you should choose a layout that’s suitable for your coaching website. You can start building your website from the coaching website demo in the ColibriWP collection. In the following lines, we’ll walk you through what’s best to implement in a coaching website, to be a success.

3. Consider important topics for the coaching website

Stay relevant. It’s a must-have condition for a coaching website that has to be successful. In blog articles, podcasts or videos, you should use content that sustains your title and entitles you to work with people as a coach for them.

4. Optimize for client conversion

Obviously, your website should sell counselling services, coaching sessions and advice for a better, fulfilled life. How do you make this happen? Let’s see:

Choose to integrate photos of you

Many websites use free stock photos, but they’re not authentic, and they don’t speak about you as a person. But what clients need is for you to use personal photos, where you introduce yourself and let people know who you are. They’re speaking about your personality, about your success, and give a real presentation of you, their future coach.

Example Insight Coaching

photos in coaching website

Coaching specialty clearly presented in title and tagline

After a photo of you presented a clear message of who you are, you need to state what your mission is. Actually, you need to state the coaching specialty concisely, in the title and subtitle of the very homepage.

Otherwise, people won’t identify you as the problem-solver for their lives, and it won’t be clear to them how you can help them overcome their issues and solve their dilemmas.

Here’s an example of coaching specialty clearly stated in the title and tagline:

coaching specialty stated in website

“Ready to create the best health of your life?” is clear enough for you to understand what type of coach she is. And it’s also clear if you need her advice as to how to get a healthier life.

Aspirational message that merges the counselling tips with the results you expect

This is the point where the coaching services and what people need converge. You need to display an aspirational message, that users identify with and indicates their wanted results. It’s also part of your work, of that work with yourself you tried and managed successfully to get to a good end.

In your homepage, maybe in the hero of the homepage, you should include an aspirational message that keeps people connected to your services.

Example of aspirational message

aspirational message in coaching website

An aspirational message creates and sustains confidence in your services as a coach. People will be more inclined to respond to such a message than to something neutral, that doesn’t relate to them.

Give free content to people

This idea refers to sharing free knowledge that makes people want to learn more about your programs and their content.

If you’re not disclosing any information in your website, people won’t be able to form an idea of what you’re offering.

You should capitalize on the use of a blog or podcast or video platform, to share bits of the wisdom you’ve got.

Example of blog where a coach shares free knowledge with people:

Giving people small bits of information they find valuable will result in their subscription to your courses. Giving them food for thought will make them want to search for more.

You need to tell your story (empathy) and give advice (authority)

To be credible towards your audience, you have to tell your story. And tell it in the most authentic voice. By disclosing your own happenings and events that made you turn into a different, better person, you create a connection with your audience. You show empathy and you show you understand them well, as well as their problems. In the meantime, you need to give advice, that moves the needle and has the power to transform those people into better persons. You need to be authoritative, so you have credit in front of those people and for your advice to be followed.

Example of storytelling in a coaching website:

storytelling in a coaching website

The storytelling personalizes you, makes you more human, with qualities and weaknesses that make you a real person. And that’s the very first reason why people would want to talk to you and search for your help. Because they know you had the same problems as theirs, and you’ve managed to overcome them. Now, it’s your turn to tell others how to overcome their own problems. Without emphasis, without compulsory actions, only because they decided to solve some issues with your help.

Qualifications

As a coach, you need to have the right qualifications. To be an authority in your field, you have to sustain your work with your own example and the qualifications that entitle you to teach others. There are some fields which require special training, and you have to prove that training was successful for you and allow you to practice as a coach.

Structure your message

For your message to be convincing, you have to structure it appropriately. Actually, you have to find the way you can reach your audience, by splitting your message into parts they follow until they see the solution to their problem. Structure it with headings and subheadings, and insert images that illustrate what you have to say. People will thus keep their attention onto your message and follow its parts until they get the whole meaning of it. And until they start working with you.

Get specific and to the point

No need to confuse readers with general stuff and theory. You need to get specific and to the point. To give examples and choose concreteness in what you have to say. Also, you can add testimonials that present additional cases where people succeeded in changing their life after some sessions with the coach.

List services by their prices

It’s possible that people be not so convinced from the start of your coaching effectiveness. They might be more inclined to start small, then groping for the answer to their problem (wondering if you could help them find this). This way, they’ll start investing more in their transformation process, and they’ll eventually subscribe to the full coaching program.

So, it’s ideal to list services by their prices, from the least costly to the more pricey, complete course.

Additional elements you can use to spice up your presentation

Suggest a quiz on the website

It might be a quiz to find out what type of person the user is. You might create some questions that have the role to define, step by step, the type of personality a user has. It’s fun and it’s educational, at the same time. And even more, it’s effective as a good start for coaching sessions with that type of person. You already know something about it, some personality traits they find it hard to unveil, what their inclinations are, what talents they have and what obstacles they put in their way.

Book a call – to schedule a session with the coach

This should be part of the menu items. A call serves as an introductory presentation that recommends you as client for the coaching sessions. The coach will know which level they are, what their life situation is, and where to start in their coaching sessions.

The “Book a Call”/”Work with Me” text should be placed on a CTA button right in the menu, so users who decide to contact the coach might do this without problems.

Run a blog

Run a blog, yes, it’s a very good idea. And in site, you should include snippets with latest from blog. So, you’re inviting users to find out more, to explore the content you put on pages, and see what you have to say, and how all belongs to a thinking and practicing system.

Actually, the blog is the first step in creating an engaging discussion with your readers. You should follow all effective channels and post relevant content that relates to them.

Example of blog attached to a coaching website:

blog attached to coaching website

An About page

Although we already tackled the topic of personal story above, we deem it important to reiterate it here. You can write an “About” you page that demonstrates how you have overcome difficulties and how you can help others overcome theirs, in their turn. You’ll sustain your work sessions and your credibility with your own story: as a person, as a coach.

An about you page makes you more human, a person who can be approached like any other person, that has its talents, and its weaknesses, the same hopes and sad moments like everybody else.

Testimonials – to see what other people are saying about the coach

Testimonials are a great way to convince people of your specialty and skills. It’s enough to have a few testimonials of people that endorse you as specialist in your domain. But, the more testimonials, the better. Your prestige will follow, as a result. And you’ll work more with new people and have the chance to get success for more persons that contact you for support.

Social media links to the coach’s accounts – where to share ideas

Posting in social media is a must-have for coaches that need to be next to people they’re trying to help. That’s why it’s a good idea to have links to social media accounts. People will find you more accessible and ready to answer their questions. You can get in touch with them, set the basis for some coaching sessions and schedule those sessions for when they’re prepared to speak about their problems of life/work/etc.

Resources from the coach

To share more content with your readers, and give them extra information they’ll need, you can think of including a section with resources from the coach. For example, this section might be filled with links, articles, videos that help people understand the importance of coaching.

You can try and make the website interactive

As the coaching sessions, the website itself might be interactive. This will help users engage with your content and be better prepared to book a session with you, and start working on their improvement.

Offer an e-book

One suggestion of extra information you could give to people coming to your blog is to offer an e-book. It might provide an overview of your coaching work and showcase the importance of your coaching sessions.

Design an appropriate Contact page

The Contact page is key for a coaching website. It gives the information people will use to reach you and speak to you, as well as book a session with you. Include email, phone number, physical address and a contact form, for a complete Contact page and a successful website.

How to create a coaching website with ColibriWP

Go to your account and select the coaching demo website in ColibriWP. Then start designing.

  • Insert a logo

From the Customizer, insert a logo for your coaching website. It might be a text logo or an image logo. To observe the UX guidelines, you should make the logo link to the homepage (when users click on the logo, they’ll be driven to the website homepage).

  • Define the menu

Click inside the menu section in the Customizer and open the panel with customization options for the dropdown menu. You can edit both the menu structure and the menu style. As you can see, there’s already an “About” section in the menu, where you can give an ample presentation of yourself. Also, there’s a link to the blog, and a link to courses you provide.

  • Edit the title and subtitle

In editing the title and subtitle, you can choose a preferred font family and weight, as well as your own colors for the text. The demo presents all these variations, you can customize after you click onto the text in the Customizer.

Also, you can notice that text color and CTA button color match, as the demo website suggests a certain color scheme for your website.

You can change the default color scheme with your own, by clicking on General Settings -> Global Color Scheme.

Customize elements that directly impact the site efficiency

  • CTA button

Undoubtedly, the CTA buttons couldn’t miss. There are 2 call-to-action buttons in the Hero of the website homepage, and you can customize them to your liking. You can suppress one of them, add a new button and adjust their style. The same principle is applied as in the case of any component: you click onto the item in the Customizer, and you open the panel with customization options for that component.

  • Content sections

The homepage, as well as the other pages in the website, can be customized with content sections of your own. These can include text, images, buttons.

Some other elements to customize

  • Contact

As already mentioned, it’s important to include your contact information. In this demo, you can replace the default data with your own, in the page footer. Also, you have a contact form directly in the homepage, for people who want to schedule coaching sessions.

If the contact data don’t fit well inn the homepage, you can create a separate Contact page to include all relevant information (phone number, email address, physical address, social media buttons, contact form).

  • Add predefined blog/add blank block

To add more sections to your pages, you can choose between adding a predefined block (by selecting it from the ColibriWP list of blocks) and adding a blank block (you can create it from scratch).

  • Customize the website footer

In the Customizer, click on “Choose Footer Design”. You have 5+ options of footer you can select from, and customize to your liking. The default footer looks like this:

Business cards and standard CVs have evolved to resume websites and WordPress resume themes. A website is currently the top-notch solution for being found and selected for projects.

What should a resume theme include?

What matters most is the layout. It needs to be adaptable to the CV format you want to display on the webpage:

  • Chronological resume – it usually includes the information below, in this order:

Contact information

Objective or summary statement

Professional experience

Relevant skills

Education

Additional information (i.e., volunteer work and special interests—optional)

  • Functional resume – this CV type focuses more on skills and abilities than work history. It includes this information, in the order below:

Contact information

Objective or summary statement

Summary of relevant skills

Work experience

Education

Additional information (i.e., volunteer work and special interests)

  • Combination resume – this is a mix between chronological resume and functional resume. The information in such a resume is listed as below:

Contact information

Objective or summary statement

Work experience

Summary of most relevant skills

Education.

Second, you need multiple options for fonts and font size. It will be useful for making the important text stand out in the page.

3. You need to consider options for:

Content width – the variants are either for a full-width (more modern look) or a boxed width design (more traditional aspect of the website);

Home page header design – here, you have multiple options for the home page header (static header image with no content, static header image with content, slideshow header with content, video background header);

Menu bar design – the options are to choose among a fixed position menu bar, a top horizontal menu bar, side vertical menu bar, bottom horizontal menu bar

Custom sections – you should choose a theme where website sections can be customized from scratch. This way, you can give those sections exactly the appearance you want. However, you need an eye for design, to match that section design into the overall appearance of the website.

Some additional specificities for this niche:

  • The theme should have an option for downloading the CV in .doc or .pdf format.
  • You should have options for contact information, that needs to be placed above the fold (recommendable), for users to notice this information.

What makes the difference between a good resume website and a standard resume website?

To stand out, a resume website needs to include all the necessary information, plus bonus tips that get you noticed.

The design style should be proving skills and abilities through itself (e.g. for a web designer – a beautiful site presentation, for SEO specialists – an easy way to find website, etc.)

What is more, a resume website might also display testimonials, that approach the presentation to that of a business people really need.

It would be a good advantage that, besides using sites like Upwork, you have your own resume website which will further recommend your skills and expertise.

We’ll walk you through 25 WordPress resume themes based on this type of selection:

1. Mesmerize – on top of the list of WordPress resume themes

This means you can make changes to the big title section, the about section (which is of utmost importance in case of a resume website), the contact section (also, an essential section that makes it possible for clients and employers to get in touch with you), a blog section (if you want to add one, and take the resume website to a higher level);
  • For the Header, you can choose one of the available layouts, and place content in the most effective way for your resume.

You can take the flexibility of such a multi-purpose theme and benefit from the ready-made sections suited for a resume website, which will result in a good website that serves you well as your online resume.

Predefined sections for a good resume not started from zero:

  • About sections – these are suited for a functional CV, where you start the presentation with a quick intro about yourself and what represents you as a professional;
  • Content sections – these are to be filled with details about your skills and abilities, and any other relevant information describing your activity in the area you’re specialized for;
  • Portfolio sections – to prove your experience and results for projects you’ve been working for, it’s a must to include a portfolio section. It’s your best chance to be persuasive and demonstrate with projects what you’re apt for;

That’s why you’ll also have specific Idyllic options to disable some of these default functionalities, in case you don’t need them (e.g. disable slider button, disable stick menu, disable go to top, disable WOW effect, etc.)

To quickly put your business online, a one-page website might be the perfect fit. If you count at least 3 of the special one-page features below as important to your website, you should consider the free one-page WordPress themes listed in this article:

Features of a one-page website and of free one-page WordPress themes

  • Simplicity and minimalism in free one-page WordPress themes

(clear and concise presentation of the business; there’s no learning curve for navigation, scrolling guides users throughout the page; minimalism gives a modern look to the website).

Here’s how a minimalist one-page website looks like:

  • One page that keeps deploying content on a scroll is all that a mobile user needs.

So if you want to catch users en route with your message, a one-page website might be the best means.

This is how a website built on P2N Live looks like (it keeps displaying content while scrolling):

  • Navigational clues are simple to get noticed and trigger browsing content with interest.

They are simple items like bounce arrows, scroll to top arrows, recurring delimitator shapes, etc.

This is how a website built with Mesmerize integrates navigational clues:

  • One-page websites and free one-page WordPress themes are great for content division into logical chunks.

It’s best practice to use separate sections for separate parts of a message. Users will get and process the information in a more effective way.

Here’s how a one-page website separates its content into logical chunks:

  • Strictly in terms of design, one-page websites and free one-page WordPress themes rule.

You can go creative with the background onto which content is placed. And what’s more: instead of a unique background for the whole page, there’s the possibility to mould separate content chunks onto separate backgrounds (each of the backgrounds with their own catchy style).

Please find below an example of one-page website with beautiful background for its sections:

  • A prominent primary call-to-action makes a one-page website ready to trigger conversions.

It’s a direct way to say what people are expecting you to say: that your business is the solution to their needs. Thus, a one-page website places communication further down the acquisition process, nearer the decision step.

Here’s an example of one-page website with a prominent call-to-action:

  • Clear and easy-to-use contact information comes together with the call-to-action that’s driven users to contact details.

Turning the decision into action is a matter of jumping to the contact section, on the very page where users decided to collaborate with you.

Here’s an example where the contact button is the same as the call-to-action in a one-page website:

  • For free one-page WordPress themes, little text is enough.

One-page websites are fit for clear and concise messages, that get straight to users’ minds and needs. There’s no use bragging about this and that, you only focus on key points that users shouldn’t miss.

You’ll find below an example of a one-page website with concise text:

Additional features of free one-page WordPress themes

  • One-page websites are favorable to story-telling. You can have as many sections as needed for the story to unfold, keeping users’ attention focused. And there’s something more. Storytelling gradually restricts the funnel towards conversion. Thus, one-page websites are great for landing pages.
  •  one-page website tends to be a… long page. To make it easy for users to browse through the presentation, in-page links can be placed at key points in the content. They serve for orientation into the website text.
  • One-page websites have a linear structure of presentation. This linearity guides the visitor from point A to point B, then to point C in the story; there’s no risk to get users lost in the page. This is given by the simple scrolling option.
  • One-page websites are best for portfolios, landing pages, brochure websites, or any unconventional presentation that’s short and clear, and to the point.
  • With additional features such as SEO-friendliness and translation-ready modules, one-page websites can go a long way in delivering your message to a wide audience.

How to create a vineyard website 2

You can add as many slides as you want, or you can delete some of the slides already included in the slideshow.

Also, you can modify the slide duration (how long a slide is displayed onto the screen, before the next slide comes in) and the effect speed (how fast or slow slides succeed to one another, in the slideshow).

Insert a logo, title, subtitle, call-to-action button

There are images of impact you’ll want to include in a slideshow presentation. Besides, you have to take care to every detail related to these elements:

  • Logo – the logo for this template includes the site title text. However, there are multiple options for you to choose from. Examples: logo image or logo image + text (where you place text differently as related to the image)
  • Title – to change the title text, place the cursor onto it and overwrite it, by inserting your own title for the homepage of the website
  • Subtitle – to change the text, place the cursor onto it and start typing again, including your own subtitle
  • Call-to-action – this will have the form of a button. Use the Content, Style and Advanced tabs to make the most of the customization options for CTA buttons.

To market your conferences and events, you need a conference website. As an organizer of conferences, you need a professional website that recommends users those events, through design, presentation and communication style.

Colibriwp helps you create a website for conferences, by providing you a template specially created for this niche.

You have to login to the app and choose Conference from the list of available templates. Then, you are ready to start customizing the template to fit your own website.

Insert a logo

It’s key to have a custom logo for a conference website. To change the default, you need to go to the Logo component in the Customizer, and insert a logo using one of the following options:

  • Logo image only
  • Site title text only
  • Image with text below
  • An Image with text on the right
  • Image with text above
  • An Image with text on the left

For this template, we inserted a logo image and an alternate logo image:

Background for each section in the website

You can apply different colors and styles to the background of each section in the website. However, please pay attention to keep a coherent color scheme within the website pages, and ensure that in the end, the site looks professional.

For the purpose of this template, we included appropriate sections such as: Speaker section (1 & 2), as a model, and a contact form.

Customizing Contact Form

This element was included into the page by inserting the corresponding Contact form shortcode into the Contact Form component.

  • Alignment of the text
  • Customizations of the form fields
  • Adjustments of the Submit button
  • Customizations for notices
